Llangynog WI member, Maureen Clark, had the brilliant idea
of organising a wonderful Christmas ‘Light-up Llangynog’ event!
This involved encouraging the Community Council, and as many villagers as possible,
to put up Christmas lights and decorations all around the village.
Hi Ladies
Light up Llangynog is definitely going ahead, please could you put some Christmas lights up on or around your properties to join in and make the village look pretty. Santa will be coming to Llangynog on Saturday, 19th December at 5pm.
The idea caught on, and lots of WI members certainly played their part
in lighting up their homes and gardens.
Here are just a few examples…
Hot chocolate and mince pies were enjoyed by spectators!
Our WI purchased two sets of LED lights and timers
to light up our very own WI ‘Christmas’ tree.
President, Mary McKenzie, supervised the proceedings.
Santa and his reindeer set off from Henstent Caravan Park soon after dark and travelled through the village to the church.
Santa and his elves, then turned down to Dolhendre before returning to the village and heading up the Bala Road.
They returned down the old Bala Road before finishing the tour on the car park.
(Of course, in order to make the event ‘Covid Safe’, as well as enjoyable,
villagers were reminded to avoid crowding together and to maintain social distancing.)
A really massive THANK YOU to Maureen and everyone involved!
