Meeting: 14th January, 2015 |
Members were glad to get out of the cold, wet and windy night and into the warmth of the Memorial Hall for the January meeting. During the meeting last year’s overall competition winner and close runner-up, Hazel Owen and Cath Williams, were congratulated and awarded their certificates and vouchers.
After business was concluded, Pam Parnell, one of Llangynog WI’s own members, demonstrated her expertise and extensive skill in the area craftwork. Before her demonstration, members were able to see the progress made so far towards Llangynog’s contribution to the Federation’s Centenary Craft Panel.

Following this Pam introduced everyone to ‘cheats cathedral patchwork’, which uses a simple technique to produce an intricate result. Different sized circles and squares of red and green fabric were used to make a variety of origami-like pockets, which could be used as Christmas tree ornaments, to hold gifts, or simply as decorations in themselves.
An enjoyable evening was rounded off with a tasty spread provided by hostesses Wendy Barker and Jan Gill.
