Detection Dogs

The speaker for the evening was Suzy Goss who spoke about the interesting topic of Medical Detection Dogs.

We heard about how ‘Medical Detection Dogs’ is a charity dedicated to training dogs in the detection and recognition of human disease by odour. The hope is that these dogs will help to prevent medical emergencies, save human lives and improve quality of life.

Bio Detection Dogs:
Specialist dogs carefully trained to detect volatiles and provide valuable information that will eventually assist in the early diagnosis of cancer and other conditions.

Medical Alert Assistance Dogs:
These dogs are trained to alert individuals managing day to day life threatening conditions by detecting minute changes in body odour.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Sivadhara celebrated her 80th birthday and proved that age is no barrier to looking good! She was given a beautifully hand-crafted card and a cake with candles, and of course everyone sang Happy Birthday.

Sivadhara was also presented with a gift from us all in the form of a bottle of wine and a fabric dog doorstop.

Monthly Competition – a sentence from the word detection.
