Meeting: 12th March, 2014
Visiting W.I. members certainly did not go hungry when they attended our Llangynog Cheese Presentation and Open Evening. The presentation was given by Robert Eyres of the Shropshire Cheese Company, who gave us a fascinating insight into the world of cheese-making. During his talk, a wide selection of his delicious cheeses were passed around for us all to try! Then, later in the evening, members had the opportunity of buying those cheeses which took their fancy.

Following the presentation, Llangynog WI provided a buffet supper, in the form of an abundance of home-made cakes, sandwiches... and all manner of savouries and sweets! There was so much food, visiting members were not only encouraged to return for seconds and thirds, but were also asked to take some home to their loved ones!

Food and cheese even featured in Llangynog’s monthly competition. ‘The best cheese and herb scones’ were produced by Cath Williams, who was awarded first place.

Mary McKenzie, Llangynog’s WI president, said “We were absolutely delighted with the turn-out. It was lovely to see our hall full of WI members, all mixing and chatting. We thank them so much for coming along and making it such a successful evening.”
