Meeting: 10th October, 2018
Comics Strips and Archaeology

On an unusually mild October evening members of Llangynog WI gathered together to welcome John Gordon Swogger, author and archaeological illustrator. John has worked on archaeological sites world wide from Turkey to the Carribean, specialising in finds and reconstruction illustrations for excavation projects.

He began using comics to express the archaeological research in a visual and narrative form more accessible to ordinary people, who are often intensely interested in their own local history, but lack the detailed information that the comic strips can provide.

John’s knowledge, and real passion for archaeology and history, shone through his talk and truly inspired all members. A fascinating evening followed by a very tasty supper.

The raffle prize, a lovely collection of toiletries, was donated by Anne Saunders and won by Helen Thomson.
