Mary, Chris, Joanne, Val, Janet and Anne Hill joined in on this Zoom presentation,
which was hosted by Jean Hurrell on behalf of PMFWI.
There were four sessions on how to recycle clothes, fabrics and paper to create some beautiful, interesting and useful things.
First, however, there was a short introduction by Helen Baker, the PMFWI Climate change ambassador, who presented us with some startling and very worrying facts about the detrimental effects of ‘fast fashion’ on the environment. Definitely food for thought!
Juliet Hurrell gave a presentation on how to creatively recycle and mend old or second-hand clothes into new, beautiful and sometimes unexpected garments!
Next, Hannah Broadway gave a bright and cheery presentation
of how to make yarn from an old T-shirt.
She demonstrated the process by making a chunky necklace,
but the yarn can also be used for knitting or crochet work.
The third session, by Gill Jenkinson, was a demonstration of how to weave magazine paper into a pot. And, finally, Sophie Lewis got us thinking about how we might use what’s already in our wardrobes to ‘Recycle our Style’.
