‘Medieval Merriment’:Llangynog WI Open Evening

Llangynog WI held its annual Open Evening on 11th May, with Montgomeryshire WI members arriving at Llangynog Memorial Hall to the strains of Medieval music.

They were welcomed with a tot of Medieval ‘Caudell’ before being seated to enjoy the evening’s entertainment. Gary and Jan from ‘History Matters’ delivered a fascinating talk, illustrated with a wide range of domestic items and clothing giving the audience real insight into the life of ‘The Middle Classes in the Middle Age’.

This was followed by Medieval ‘maidens’ dancing two ‘brawls’ from the Middle Ages with enthusiasm! Maggie Parker, accompanied by Jim Shipp on the lute, sang three beautiful Medieval songs, with many members joining in.

The supper provided both 21st century and Medieval food for all to enjoy.
