Meeting: 8th July, 2015 |
As July’s business came to a close, members of Llangynog WI watched as Tony Orme from ‘Crackpots’, set up an array of blank ceramic unglazed plates, jugs, vases, mugs and ornaments for members to choose from. The complete process of painting techniques, glazing and finally kiln firing pots, was described in interesting detail.
Then, as members created designs on their pots from a wide range of seemingly pale, muted paints, they were shown how the firing process would bring out the true vividness and depth of colour of the paint and how the glaze would create a beautiful gloss, making the pieces even dishwasher safe.
It was a truly creative, inspiring and informative evening, very much enjoyed by all. Members look forward to the September meeting when they will receive their completed pieces in all their glory.
A tasty selection of cakes and savouries were provided by Cath Williams and Anne Evans.
