Meeting: 24th June, 2020 |
On the evening of Wednesday 24th June, Llangynog WI held its first ever virtual meeting, via ‘Zoom’. Christine Browne entertained the twelve members present (Joanne arrived after this photo was taken) with numerous stories and anecdotes about her life as one of the very first female vicars.
Amongst other things, she talked about the prejudice she faced as a woman, her time working in a prison, working with troubled young people, and, also, why and how she first decided to become a vicar. Her talk was full of warmth and humour and was appreciated by us all.
Chris, the priest guardian of Saint Melangell's Church, was ordained deacon in 1990 and later became one of the first women to be priested in the Church of England.
