Meeting: 9th July, 2014
What a hectic week for Llangynog WI members! Firstly, a glorious Wednesday afternoon found us at Llanymynech canal wharf, where the WI Centenary Baton arrived in style, on “The Duchess Countess”. The barge approached to the strains of Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau (Land of My Fathers), led by members of theTanat Dyffryn WI Choir.

After the ceremonial handover of the baton from the Shropshire Federation Chairman to our own Federation Chairman, Amanda Willday, the choir entertained us further with a selection of songs. We were also kept amused by Sue Blower, Montgomery Town Crier, whilst enjoying tea, Welsh cakes and bara brith in the afternoon sun. center>

The fun continued that evening at our monthly meeting with a fascinating, hands-on demonstration of felt-making and creative felt work, by Rowena Morris. The meeting was rounded off with a splendid spread provided by Cath Williams and Ann Morgan.

Sunday was another exciting day for us with the Centenary Baton Bash at Coed-y-Dinas, where we celebrated the ten decades since the WI was formed in 1915.
