Anyone passing through Llangynog during summer months, can’t help but notice Alan Young’s colourful array of hanging baskets. Members of Llangynog WI, at their May meeting, were fortunate enough to have Alan along to demonstrate and explain the technique of creating hanging baskets guaranteed to produce a magnificent display which would last all summer long.

He instructed members on how to line and fill the baskets, layering compost and plants to maximise the final visual impact. Alan provided a comprehensive list of suitable plants, and stressed the need for daily, or even twice daily, watering.

His passion and enthusiasm inspired members of the group, many of whom will undoubtedly produce baskets of their own.
