Chilling Out at Chirk Castle

Members of Llangynog WI chose Chirk Castle for their summer outing, some sweeping up the drive to the medieval fortress in the castle mini bus, others walking in the shade beneath trees heavily in leaf, until the castle walls stood majestically before them.

There was so much to enjoy in the castle; magnificent rooms taking one back in time, dungeons, towers, portraits, paintings of the castle and surrounding area, records and documents, and so much more.

A visit to the tea rooms, a look around the gift shop and a wander around the wonderful gardens before leaving for a tasty meal at the Original Ball, completed a really interesting and very enjoyable day.

On the way home, members stopped off to enjoy a tasty meal at ‘The Original Ball’ in Maesbury.
