Meeting: 11th January, 2017
Hot and Spicy!

At their January meeting, members of Llangynog WI were treated to a curry cookery demonstration by one of its own members, Mary McKenzie. Using a wide array of spices, Mary prepared no less than three quite different, but complementary, Indian curries, accompanied by plain Basmati rice.

During the meeting members also took time to celebrate recent WI successes. These include Anne Hill’s crafted penguin winning first prize at the RWAS winter fair, Llangynog WI receiving the Rose Bowl for coming second in the Literary Eisteddfod, and Hazel Owen’s jam achieving third place in the Doreen Jones competition.

Finally certificates were awarded to the 2016 Llangynog WI monthly competition overall winner (Mary McKenzie) and runners up (Val Atherton and Janet Burton).

Curry sampling, followed by a tasty supper concluded a most enjoyable meeting.

Raffle: A lovely plant, donated by Hazel Owen, was won by Anne Evans. The 2017 WI Calendar was also raffled and won by Val Atherton

Thanks to the hosts for the evening, Val Atherton and Pam Parnell.
