Sunflowers and Scarecrows!
Extract from the Llangynog Community Council News (26th April 2020):
"Sunflowers and Scarecrows Something that we can all get involved with. In the coming week or so you will receive a couple of giant sunflower seeds which you can plant in your gardens. At the same time make a scarecrow, or two! Put the scarecrow at the front of the house for all to see. It can be any type of scarecrow, made from any materials you have."

By the end of May villagers had received their sunflower seeds but no scarecrows had appeared.

Early June and Llangynog WI members decided that they would take the lead… and started to produce the village’s first scarecrows!

It wasn’t long before more scarecrows appeared, and over the next couple of months they were popping up all over.

This scarecrow (Slack Alice) never appeared in Llangynog…
for the very good reason that it isn’t a scarecrow at all!!!
It’s Joanne Hill dressed up and sitting in a washing basket!

Other Scarecrows in the Village

A wonderful display of scarecrows all around the village to cheer everyone up... and take our minds off Coronavirus and all the restrictions we have been living under!

Now we just wait for all the SUNFLOWERS to grow & bloom!
