Before entering the house itself, Kate Hill-Trevor, our lovely host and guide, led an informed inspection of the outside of the house with the its original bricks, mullioned windows, chimneys, turrets, and roof lines, some features from the original house with other later additions, giving a fascinating image of the development of the property over the centuries.
Moving into the house itself, we were taken from beautifully restored morning room to state dining room, to library, bedroom, kitchen and through the history of the house and the Trevor family itself. It came alive through the portraits, architectural drawings, furniture and decor. Sitting around the state dining room table, for afternoon tea, at the end of the tour, we knew we had all had a truly delightful and memorable experience. A jewel on our doorstep.
