Congratulations! - Outstanding Literary Eisteddfod Results (Thurs 3rd Nov 2016)
Llangynog WI did outstandingly well in this year’s Literary Eisteddfod at the PMFWI Annual Council Meeting at Theatr Hafren, Newtown, and were awarded the Llanwddyn Rose Bowl as very close runners up (with 50 points) to Penybontfawr WI, overall winners (with 51 points).

Llangynog was awarded three firsts, and one second place. But it was the overall number of entries that really made the difference this year, as every entry counts.
- Llangynog WI entered:
- 14 Sentences (English).
- 1 Sentence (Welsh).
- 10 Limericks.
- 2 Stories.
- 5 Poems.
- 2 Invitations (English).
- 1 Invitation (Welsh).
- Congratulations to:
- Wendy Barker who entered every category (including story & poem).
- Janet Burton who gained a first in both invitation categories, and for her limerick.
- Sheila Broome who gained 2nd place for her sentence.
As well as our success in the Literary Competition, there was further good news when it was announced that Hazel Owen had been given 3rd place for her 'Jar of Fruit Jam! She received a prize of £5.
