Llangynog WI members were ‘bowled over’ at the July meeting when Rob Broome introduced them to the art of short mat bowls. A short explanation and demonstration were followed by a quick practice before teams were formed.

Excitement followed as members enthusiastically, and at times noisily, competed for points! After a shaky start, some members began to show real flair, and who knows, may pursue it as a future interest.

After all that exertion everyone was treated to a really lovely supper prepared by Val Atherton and Sheila Broome.

This month’s competition was ‘A sentence from the word BIRTHDAY’.

The sentences will now be entered into the WI Literary Eisteddfod and points awarded accordingly.
