Silk Scarves

Our July meeting was another hands-on event, with Mary Byng and her friend Linda showing us how to paint on silk scarves.

We were each given a blank white scarf and shared coloured inks. Mary outlined a few approaches, from colourful splashes to a bit of tie dying.

Scarves were then microwaved (!) to set the inks and after a thorough rinse we had to iron the finished scarf to then display each pattern. Every scarf turned out both unique and colourful.

Mary and Linda judged our work for our monthly competition, with Janice Roberts and Anne Hill sharing first, Mal Bradshaw coming second and Christine Norwell being third…

but in reality all were so bright and stylish - all winners!

We enjoyed a lovely supper from Group A to round off another successful, creative evening.

In the monthly raffle Mary won a lovely afternoon tea in a box, full of delicious goodies, kindly donated by Nicky.
